We Sing Encore Review

Reviews, Wii 1 Comment »

There are very few proper singing games in the video games industry. In fact only two franchises, consisting of “Lips”(xbox 360) and “Singstar”(Playstation) are widely known. When it comes to the Nintendo Wii, there is no established franchise, which is where “We sing” comes in. Already in its second interaction the series, from Swedish publisher Nordic games, has enjoyed a fair amount of success. With “We sing encore” it focused on improving weak areas from the first title. But will this effort be rewarded with raving reviews, or is this one encore that Wii players should have missed?

No More Heroes 2 : Desperate Struggle review

Reviews, Wii No Comments »

It is hard to find a gory game which has not had to be toned down in order to be released in certain regions. With that in mind, it is refreshing to see companies such as Rising Star, still publishing games that incorporate that risk factor. While the first “No More Heroes” ended up being published by another company, it was Rising Star that grabbed the reigns for releasing the sequel in European territory. With “No More Heroes 2”, Grasshopper Manufacture has changed its strategy and presents a game that is more accessible to a wider audience. Should anti hero Travis Touchtown have come out of retirement, or would it have been better to just call it a day?

Avalon Code review

Nintendo DS, Reviews No Comments »

There’s plenty of RPG games out there nowadays but what truly distinguishes them, is how they can be played. While most rely on tried and tested formulas, there are still some developers that try to bring innovation to the genre. With Avalon Code, Rising Star attempts to do just that by creating a rather unique concept. The story of the game tells the tale of a boy or girl who is prophesied to save the world. He/she does so by making a record of everything he/she comes across in a special book, so it can be transported over to the new world.

Aliens Vs Predator review

Reviews, xbox 360 No Comments »

There are times when a franchise is already pretty much on its way to perfection. However, sometimes combining two amazing franchises, is just what is needed to breath new life into both of them. With Aliens Versus Predator Rebellion manages to once again revive a cult classic that many are fond of. The concept is quite simple, but yet highly effective in bringing these characters, and the mythology behind them together. The team has many years of experience in the field and even developed the previous AvP game for the PC back in 1999. Would this new title be just another outdated attempt at bringing attention to an old franchise or an instant hit?

Bayonetta review

Reviews, xbox 360 No Comments »

A game about a witch that can summon hellish beast with her hair would have had to be something unique. It is a game brought by the people that created another legendary hack and slash series in the form of Devil May Cry after all. In Bayonetta the newly revamped Platinum Games has managed to breath life in the same genre yet again.

Dark Void review

Reviews, xbox 360 No Comments »

With the popularity of 3rd person shooters it is quite hard to captivate gamers with so many games out under the genre. What makes Dark Void stand out from the crowd is the inclusion of the infamous jet pack. The main character Will finds it during his travels in the void and decides that it will make the battle against the watchers much easier. This is a game with a sci fi theme after all so the jet pack is the 1st of many surreal surprises.

Let’s Tap Review

Reviews, Wii No Comments »

A rhythm game developed by a team led by one of the person’s responsible for creating Sonic was always going to be something unique. The new PROPE studios surprised everyone by announcing a game where all players did was tap a box with a wii remote on top of it. What would be most important is to know if this concept worked or if it was just full of random tapping.

Resident Evil 5 review

Reviews, xbox 360 No Comments »

As one of the first games to truly start the survival horror game genre many years ago Resident Evil has many fans.
